Dhokra is a metal-casted art that uses the ancient lost-wax casting technique. This art is said to be the first of its kind to use a non-ferrous metal like copper and its alloys – brass or bronze which do not contain iron. Dhokra also known as Dokra is non–ferrous metal casting using the lost-wax casting technique. One of the earliest known lost wax artifacts is the dancing girl of Mohenjo-Daro.

Dokra art is a non-ferrous metal craft that uses the cire perdue or the lost wax technique.  It is a labor-intensive and time-consuming process.

The main ingredients of the process involve acquiring metal sheets or pieces, clay and chaff for the mold, and wood for the furnace to heat the wax.
